1. Do you customize buildings?

Steel City Buildings of PA sets itself apart from many of the “standard offerings” our competitors can offer you. Steel City Buildings of PA custom builds every building to your exact specifications. While we carry a wide array of styles, sidings, and accessories, we have the facilities and experience to accommodate just about any request.

2. Do I need a building permit?

Building permits are required in many towns and boroughs and are dependant on the size and location on your property. Most of our buildings are considered portable structures and do not add property tax implications for you. Steel City Buildings of PA, upon request, can supply engineered stamp drawings and proof of insurance to the borough building inspectors so they may approve your permit. Many times, our information is already on file from previous buildings built in your neighborhood.

3. Do you offer site prep services?

Yes, we pride ourselves in our site preparation services. With over 16 years of experience behind us, we utilize many different techniques to solve the worst of sites to make a level, accessible foundation for your building to be enjoyed for years to come. And as always, we do not use sub-contractors which means you'll always get the best price and the correct work accomplished for the building of your specifications. The Steel City difference is that, while others may say they will level your site for free, that only consists of putting your building up on blocks. Placing a building up on cinder blocks greatly increases the risk that your shed will settle unevenly, causing your building to stress at points it was not engineered to withstand, greatly shortening the life span of the building.

4. Do you sell pole buildings?

Yes, we offer a full line of pole building to meet your storage and garage needs. Our steel is 29 gauge and available in many different colors and textures.

5. What building sizes do you offer?

We can build any size building with any siding you choose. Our most popular styles, sidings and sizes are available on a standard price sheet, but an estimate can be provided for whatever your needs are.

6. Is there an additional charge for installation?

All of our buildings include the construction with runners and flooring on your level site. There may however be a charge for leveling your site if you choose not to do it yourself. A full evaluation of your site and a site prep estimate are available at no charge during site inspection before your scheduled build date.

7. I have an existing concrete slab – can you build on it?

Yes. We will build a custom building to the exact dimensions of your concrete slab. In addition, we will use a pressure treated bottom plate and secure the building to your concrete with special TapCon concrete screws.

8. Will the floor hold my vehicle?

Our 2 x 6 tongue and groove floor is rated at 760 lbs/sq. ft. We do not splice our flooring, so there is never a risk of the boards separating and causing a rough edge in the middle of your floor.

9. Site inspections?

Site inspections are not only free without any obligation to buy, they are actually strongly suggested before the installation appointment. In order to ensure your site is level and to guarantee there will be no unexpected fees and charges, it is imperative a sales or site prep associate make a visit to your location to discuss the perfect location and layout for your needs.

10. Do you sell kits?

No, after a test period several years back, selling kits to the Do It Yourselfers provided to be very time consuming and prevented us from warranting the buildings. Since our designs are constructed with specialty nails and staples, specific tools are required to assemble and complete the buildings on your site. While there are others that sell kits, Steel City Buildings of PA has the philosophy that your building should last a lifetime and that requires our time tested techniques to completely assemble and warrant the craftsmanship of your building.
